The event, held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Al-Zawraa Hall in Al-Rasheed Hotel, carried the slogan “Towards Comprehensive and Sustainable Migration Governance” and highlighted the importance of strengthening governance strategies in the field of migration.
The conference emphasized the role of the private sector as a strategic partner in supporting comprehensive and sustainable migration governance. It also reviewed Iraq’s key achievements in implementing the Global Compact for Migration and outlined a roadmap for the next phase in line with government priorities. The discussions focused on aligning national policies with Iraq’s legal and strategic framework as well as its international commitments.
The program featured opening remarks and scientific sessions addressing future migration policies, with a particular focus on the institutional role of government bodies in developing national migration strategies. Discussions also tackled the expansion of regular pathways to promote safe migration alternatives and the attraction of Iraqi expertise abroad to contribute to national development.
Additionally, participants examined opportunities and challenges facing the private sector, along with ways to support the reintegration of returning Iraqi migrants through employment, training, and financial inclusion.
It is worth noting that Bayt al-Hikma is a member of the National Committee for Combating Irregular Migration at the Ministry of Migration and Displacement, actively contributing to its work by providing studies, research, and recommendations that assist the Iraqi government in managing irregular migration.
