Regular  Meeting to Launch the First 
Report on Curbing Irregular Migration

On Thursday, August 7, 2025, Bayt Al-Hikma ( House of Wisdom) hosted the regular  meeting held by the Ministry of Migration and Displaced to launch the first report on curbing irregular migration. The event was held in collaboration with the Department of Social Studies at Bayt Al-Hikma  and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) , at the Grand Hall of Hunayn ibn Ishaq at Beit Al-Hikma.
The meeting was opened with a welcoming speech by Dr. Qahtan Ni’ma Al-Khafaji, Head  of the Board of Trustees of Bayt Al- Hikma ,  He praised the significant role played by the Ministry of Migration and Displaced and its joint work with other government institutions in implementing the government's program. He emphasized the necessity of joint institutional efforts to address social phenomena that negatively impact the human structure.
Dr. Kareem Al-Nouri, Deputy Minister of Migration and Displaced, delivered an official speech in which he presented a comprehensive vision for the issue of irregular migration and highlighted its most important causes. He extended his gratitude to Bayt Al-Hikma institution for its support, stressing the need for concerted efforts to create a complete vision for curbing this dangerous phenomenon.
The meeting included the presentation of plans for curbing irregular migration by government institutions. Dr. Safaa Hussein, Director-General of the Department of Migration Affairs, presented the semi-annual reports for 2025 and the results and outcomes of the National Committee for Curbing Irregular Migration activities  during the first half of this year.
Ms. Teba Khalil Ibrahim, ICMPD coordinator, gave a detailed presentation on the establishment of the center in Iraq, the services it provides, and its future approach to raise  awareness about the dangers of irregular migration, in cooperation with government institutions and civil society organizations in Baghdad and all governorates.
Members of the National Committee for Curbing Irregular Migration, representing various ministries and entities, reviewed the activities and  achievements within their institutions. Dr. Ali Qasim Hammoud, Director-General of the Department of Education and Public Relations, representing the Commission of Integrity; Mr. Zaid Ibrahim Hassan, representing Diyala Governorate; and Dr. Musa Al-Musawi, representing the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. They presented reports on programs implemented to curb irregular migration from different perspectives. These programs included media and educational awareness, ways to socially and economically integrate migrants into society, providing job opportunities for youth, and organizing professional courses and workshops to help people acquire skills.
Through this meeting, Bayt  Al-Hikma called for concerted national and governmental efforts to solve social problems, and pursuit the state's developmental goals 
The meeting concluded with a ceremony honoring a group of researchers and academics from various Iraqi universities who presented research in the field of migration .
