The Husseini Renaissance in Literature and Thought of Sheikh Al-Waeli
Dr. Qahtan Ni’ma Al-Khafaji, Head of the Board of Trustees of Bayt Al-Hikma (House of Wisdom), attended on Thursday, August 7, 2025, a seminar titled "The Husseini Renaissance in the Literature and Thought of Sheikh Al-Waeli". The seminar was organized by the Ibdaa Platform as part of the Baghdad : City of Literary Creativity - UNESCO Project, to mark the anniversary of the passing of the dean of the Husseini pulpit, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Waeli (may God have mercy on him), at Baghdad Hall , Bayt Al-Hikma.
The session was headed by Dr. Saad Al-Tamimi, director of the Ibdaa Platform, , the event hosted Dr. Wael Al-Tai, head of Al-Waeli Foundation for Intellectual Dialogue. Al-Tai spoke about Sheikh Al-Waeli's upbringing in Najaf and his establishment of the rhetorical school which combined scientific research with influential oratory. He also discussed his distinctive style in presenting the dimensions of the Husseini Renaissance, relying on reliable sources and prophetic hadith, and offering a realistic analysis of the goals and philosophy of Imam Hussein's (peace be upon him) revolution in opposing injustice and paving the way for freedom and reform.
For his part, the Head of the Board of Trustees, emphasized the importance of highlighting the symbols of Islamic thought who addressed the Husseini revolution, including Sheikh Al-Waeli, who was distinguished by his polite discourse and his use of the Holy Quran and the Prophet's Sunnah as evidence. He pointed to Sheikh Al-Waeli's ability to address various social groups and his great influence on society, especially in developing religious discourse through modern content and style, which positively affected an entire generation of orators.
