"Humanitarian Dialogue between classes of Iraqi Society"
In a joint scientific cooperation between Islamic studies department and Social Studies departments at Bayt Al-Hikma, a scientific symposium was held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, titled "Humanitarian Dialogue Between the classes of Iraqi Society," in Al-Khwarizmi Hall, Bayt Al-Hikma
The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Salam Abdul Ali , College of Arts , Baghdad University , and rapporteured by Asst.Prof. Dr. Hadeel Saadi Moussa , College of Arts , Al-Mustansiriya University.
The symposium highlighted the importance of dialogue for communication between individuals, considering it a fundamental pillar in building healthy societies, based on understanding, cooperation, and solidarity, as well as an urgent necessity for building a cohesive society. It also focused on activating dialogue values in educational curricula and religious and social institutions, enhancing culture of understanding and dialogue.
the symposium witnessed participation of specialized researchers from various research centers .
* Prof. Dr. Mayyas Dhiaa Baqer, supervisor of Islamic Studies Department at Bayt Al-Hikma, presented a research paper on humanitarian dialogue between societal groups from an Islamic perspective. She pointed to the pillars of dialogue in Islam, which aim to build a society based on respect and coexistence, and to raise awareness among different social classes of their rights and duties, while reviewing the most prominent challenges facing dialogue in contemporary societies.
* Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Taher Al-Hamoud, director of Al-Bayan Center for Studies and Research, participated with a research paper discussing the intergenerational and classes overlap and political interaction in Iraq, as well as the ways to empower society by investing its energies, while considering the continuous adaptation and flexibility in dialogue methods.
* Dr. Fatima Abdul Ali Al-Thabit, Asst. Dean for Scientific Affairs at the College of Arts , University of Babylon, participated with a research paper titled "Class Representation in the Age of the Image: Social Communication or Reinforcement of the Class Gap? A Sociological Vision in Iraqi Reality." The paper pointed to the need to develop training content for youth and integrate critical education of image and class representation into school and university curricula.
* Finally, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hammoud Ibrahim , College of Arts ,University of Thi Qar participated with a research paper presented on his behalf by Dr. Hadeel Saadi Moussa. It discussed the role of political authority in reshaping social classes in Iraq during the period from the establishment of the modern Iraqi state in 1921 to 2025, reviewing the theoretical and methodological framework, the stages of the formation of authority and class, the post-2003 phase, and the effects of these transformations on humanitarian dialogue between classes.
The symposium witnessed an interactive dialogue between the participating researchers and specialized academic professors, who enriched the symposium with their valuable interventions and comments.
