Cultural Councils: Conscious Communication and the Consolidation of Values
Bayt al-Hikma hosted the activities of the Baghdad Cultural Councils Association Festival, held under the title “Cultural Councils: Conscious Communication and the Consolidation of Values,” on Saturday, 10 January 2026, at Hunayn ibn Ishaq Hall.
The festival opened with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the reading of Surat al-Fatiha in memory of the righteous martyrs. This was followed by a speech delivered by Mr. Sadiq al-Rubaie, President of the Baghdad Cultural Councils Association, in which he expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to Bayt al-Hikma for its generous patronage and support that contributed to the success of the festival. He highlighted the significant role played by this long-established institution in supporting thought, culture, and literature by providing an appropriate environment for hosting scientific and intellectual activities, research, studies, and cultural events.
The festival included a variety of cultural activities, poetic recitations, literary and artistic presentations, and the honoring of prominent researchers and academics who participate in the sessions of cultural councils in Baghdad and other provinces. Documentary films were also screened, reflecting the cultural and creative reality of these councils and their role in promoting awareness and knowledge within society.
During the event, Bayt al-Hikma was honored with a Creativity Shield, received by Mr. Mudhaffer al-Rubaie, Director of Public Relations and Media, on behalf of Dr. Qahtan Nima Hassan al-Khafaji, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
It is worth noting that Baghdad’s cultural councils are platforms and forums dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge, learning, and culture. They were founded by leading scholars, writers, and intellectuals and have long been widespread throughout the city of Baghdad, whether established within official and governmental institutions or held in private homes and residences.
