Climate change and its impact on Iraq.

Sustainability of Energy, Environment, and Climate
In an effort to promote environmental awareness and a deeper understanding of climate change, Bayt al-Hikma organized a training and awareness course titled “Awareness on Energy, Environmental, and Climate Sustainability”, held from October 7–8, 2025, at the halls of Bayt al-Hikma. The course targeted employees from various scientific departments and administrative divisions.
The sessions were conducted by experts from within Bayt al-Hikma — Mr. Mudhafar Al-Rubaie, Director of Public Relations and Media, and Mr. Radwan Ali Hussein, Director of the Maintenance Division.
The course aimed to raise employees’ awareness of the importance of energy sustainability and the impact of climate change on the world in general and Iraq in particular. It also addressed the dangers of global warming and rising temperatures caused by the accumulation of greenhouse gases that trap heat within the Earth's atmosphere.
Topics covered included an introduction to climate variables, their causes and global and local impacts, as well as the environmental, water, agricultural, and economic challenges facing Iraq. The training also explored climate forecasting, data analysis, adaptation and mitigation strategies, the formulation of strategic plans, and the adoption of smart practices for energy conservation and institutional implementation.
Bayt al-Hikma is committed to engaging its employees in awareness campaigns on climate change issues, recognizing this as essential for building an environmentally conscious society capable of meeting growing challenges. Knowledge alone is not enough — it must be transformed into concrete actions that begin within institutions and extend outward to the broader community.
