The British Ambassador to Iraq Visits Bayt al-Hikma
His Excellency Mr. Irfan Siddiq, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Iraq, paid an official visit to Bayt al-Hikma on Monday, October 6, 2025. He was received by Dr. Qahtan Neama Hassan Al-Khafaji, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, in his office. The visit aimed to learn about the institution’s work, its scientific activities in the fields of research and studies, and its rich historical and cultural legacy.
The meeting focused on discussing mechanisms to enhance scientific and cultural cooperation between Bayt al-Hikma and British institutions of mutual interest, through coordination with the British Embassy in Baghdad.
Both sides also discussed the importance of developing joint research programs that would enable academic experts to exchange views and experiences and share research practices and scholarly insights.
At the conclusion of the visit, His Excellency the Ambassador and his accompanying delegation toured the historic building of Bayt al-Hikma, visiting its library and various halls. The visit concluded with the presentation of a collection of Bayt al-Hikma publications as a gift to the Ambassador.
